Chapter 56

Davis had opened his eyes when Christina had gasped and he'd read the truth in her expression. The pain on her face only added to the physical discomfort and pain he was feeling from the tumor that had spread all over his chest area.

There were times when his cancer hurt worse than others. This morning, he had been able to run down 15 flights of stairs because the pain medicine he took in the mornings had deadened the pain enough that the adrenaline helped take it all away. But the stress he was facing now only aggravated the pain and sent sharp, throbbing daggers into his entire body.

Unable to bear the pain any longer, he collapsed onto the nearest seat and listened to the man on the screen through his pain. Every few words caught his attention and would bring his gaze back to the screen, but the scientific explanations were boring to him, so he closed his eyes and gave into the pain.
