Chapter 57

When Davis sat down, Stella had felt the break of his attention as a physical force. She tore her gaze away from the screen, only to find Davis ashen and shaking, holding his chest. She immediately rushed over to where he was sitting and placed her hand on his chest and within moments, he'd visibly regained some of the color in his face.

"How did you..." Davis started to ask, but Stella shook her head. She didn't know, but had only obeyed the voice she'd heard earlier, which had told her to touch Davis and take away his pain.

Patting him on the head, she returned to her seat, meeting the gaze of Christina, whose eyes sparkled with tears and a firm resolve. Stella bit her lip and sat down again.

The man on the screen held up a beaker, explaining his experiment in more detail. The voice in Stella's head mocked the man, saying that he didn't hold all of the answers and knowledge. But Stella ignored the voice and watched, wondering if there was any point to this experiment, as the man was out of place in his sneakers and jeans. He appeared to be so out of place with the setting that she wondered if he even knew what he was doing. His audience, three academicians, dressed in suits, sat three feet away and took notes during his experiment. None of them spoke to the man.
